Kyle Evans – SD Hall of Fame Inductee
| Kyle Evans spent more than 20 years in the music industry as an entertainer and recording artist. He recorded in Nashville, TN, as well as producing and composing his own albums. He also had his own publishing company in Wessington Springs (Company Cowboy Prod.). Evans headlined at Cowboy Poetry Gatherings, played over 600 professional rodeo performances across U.S. since 1981, as well as hundreds of rodeo dances and thousands of one niters prior to 1981. Evans appeared with Lawrence Welk in 1969, and was on many country music shows with artists such as: Sylvia, Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, Tex Ritter, Don Gibson, Skeeter Davis and more. Evans twice played for Miss Rodeo America Pageants and during National Finals Rodeos in Las Vegas, twice sang the National Anthem at NFR in Las Vegas also. He played major stock shows and rodeos such as North American Livestock Expo, Louisville, Ky. – 6 yrs., Denver Stock Show – 1983, Wyoming State Fair Rodeo, Douglas WY. – 1982, Black Hills Stock Show rodeo – 1982-89, Badlands Circuit Finals rodeo, Bismarck, ND – 1981-89. Kyle Evans recorded 15 albums and played for Governors Inaugural Balls, Presidential Candidates rallies and for the President of the United States. He was awarded the National Western Heritage Award for music in 1989 for the South Dakota Centennial Album (This award is given by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Oklahoma City, OK, for best music entry in 1988). The South Dakota Centennial Committee voted him South Dakota Centennial Troubadour in 1987. Kyle Evans passed away on July 5, 2001, from injuries suffered after his motorcycle collided with a deer.
